Bucharest donates

A CHANCE FOR LIFE FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN AND RAISING AWARNESS TOWARDS THE FILANTROPICAL PROGRAMMES

The campaign “Bucharest donates!” will take place between 11th - 13th December 2009 and aims to raise around 10,000 euros from the inhabitants of Bucharest. These funds will be used to support Chance for Life social programmes in 2010.
The campaign started from the belief that Romanians are very generous people despite the fact that most of them do not donate to charities. Our belief is that Romanians do want to help vulnerable people, but instead of donating choose to give to the beggars. For over 20 years, Romanians are continuing to give money to the beggars even though they know that many of these people are exploited and trafficked by networks of criminals.

The campaign aims to offer to people from Bucharest an efficient solution for their willingness to support people in need. This way the donors will also receive the warranty that their contribution will make a real difference in the community and their charitable effort will be acknowledged.

The campaign will take place from 11th to 13th December 2010 within 10 areas of Bucharest: Cismigiu, Universitatii Square, Romana Square, Unirii Square, Victoriei Square, Aviatorilor-Parcul Herăstrău, Mall Vitan, Mall (Cora) Lujerului, Mall (Ikea) Băneasa, Mall (Carrfour) Orhideea.

100 young distinctively dressed volunteers will be on the streets collecting the donations for Chance for Life Foundation. The volunteers will have a Chance for Life ID and their personal ID and will fill in an invoice for every single donation.

We estimate that during the three days, 100 volunteers can raise around 45,000 RON (around 10,000 euros). These funds will support educational materials, fees for schools competitions, fees for language courses and the daily food for the 67 children and young people benefiting from the Chance for Life programmes.

In order to ensure the transparency and accountability of our campaign, the funds raised from the population will be counted together with our partners from the media and the town hall, and at the end of the campaign will have a press conference to announce how much we have raised. The names of all the donors and the sums donated by each of them will be published on the CHANCE FOR LIFE website, and also Chance for Life will publish a regular report regarding the way the money had been spent.

The campaign “Bucharest donates!” hopes to convince the inhabitants of Bucharest that through donating to charities they are making a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable people.
