What we believe in
Though Romania has had to confront a series of challenges over the years, we believe this is a wonderful country, where wonderful people live. For generations Romanians have been taught to disbelieve their capacity to change things that do not work well. Wherever they are in the world, many Romanians tend to think less about them, as a nation.
There are an enormous number of isolated communities, even within big cities, where people feel abandoned and hopeless. In many situations, they look up for others to bring the hope and give them a chance for life. Many tend not understand voluntary work, associating it with the “patriotic work” imposed by the communists for 50 years.
Chance for Life Foundation believes that the key for development is held by each community and each of the people living there. This is why we aim to empower people, and one of the most effective tools is learning how to volunteer for their own community.
We also believe that the key for a bright future is firstly held by children and the way they became adults. Therefore, the focus of our main programmes are children, their families and teachers, all champions of a better tomorrow.
Chance for Life believes that “the illiterate of the 21st century are not those who cannot read or write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn and relearn” (Alvin Toffler). This is why our effort aims at helping children to grow up like someone that loves to learn and does not fear changes.
